Stacey Marinelli- Voit

GraceyI wanted to share with all of you my heartbreaking story that my husband and I experienced over the weekend. One of my Golden Retrievers, Gracey, got an awful diagnosis of bone cancer. She was only 9 years old and was very playful, smart and had a lot of life still in her. The aggressive bone cancer rapidly spread making it very difficult for her to walk. It was such a punch in the heart. God sent me an angel on Saturday and her name is Sherri Dipietro with DeJohn Pet Services. Along with hardest decision to send our beloved Gracey to the Rainbow Bridge, I was sick at having to leave her at the vet not knowing who would be picking her up to be cremated or how they would handle transporting her and so forth. As I was sitting sobbing before we had to do the heartbreaking drive to the vet, a radio commercial came on for DeJohn Pet Services. I immediately called them on Saturday evening before my devastating drive and Sherri was the most compassionate, loving and caring person that had entered our lives. She met us at DeJohn Pet Services with open arms and a  doggie casket filled with blankets and pillows for our beloved Gracey. She took care of her like she was her own and also cared for us during this painful time. All of our pets deserve to be treated with compassion, dignity and respect. They are our furry family members. Knowing that Gracey was treated with such a loving touch helps us sleep at night. Gracey was brought to DeJohn Pet Services on Saturday night and was ready to come home where she belongs on Monday. Upon picking her up, Sherri had made “angel wings” for us out of Gracey’s fur and paw/nose prints out of clay. If I can pass my story on and it helps just one person through such a painful time then I have succeeded. I have forever found a special place in my heart for Sherri and I want others to as well some day. I did not know that this wonderful pace for our pets even existed and I want to get the word out to let others know.
