Pet Description

Biskit first came into our home Labor Day weekend in 2005 while we were camping at Berlin Lake Park in Ohio. He joined the family of Greg and Lori, daughters Heather (Sissy) and Jamie, his 5 yr. old dog buddy Max, and later, grandchildren Aidan, Colin, and McKenna, and their dog Petey.
He was a hero, once saving Max from drowning in our pool. He was generous, saving a little bit of his food for Max, as Max was on a diabetic diet. He loved visits from the grandchildren as they pet and talked to him. He loved going for a walk around Perry and as he got sicker, a doggie stroller ride. He was smart, graduating from both AKC Obedience School and Therapy Dog International training at the top of his class! He volunteered at Perry Public Library in the “Paws for Reading” program, so children could gain reading and social skills. He loved to hear them tell him stories! He loved long-legged Boxers, especially “Roxie,” his classmate girlfriend for a few brief months! He especially loved Ferrets and became good buddies with “Weston,” Sissy’s pet Ferret. Both of them would patiently wait for Daddy to come home from work by listening for the sound of his “Diesel.” He loved camping and made many trips to Salt Fork State Park and Myrtle Beach. He even had a special camping bed for when he was lying outside! He was a hard worker and became a US Certified Service Animal and flew to Honolulu, Hawaii in the fall of 2019 to visit his Sissy and do his last job! He was the best passenger on that darn United flight!
He had a nice home; a designated spot on the loveseat; a soft, cushy bed; plush blankets; gourmet Shih Tzu meals; yummy dog treats; a credit card for Chewy; a designer Service Animal vest; and the best health insurance plan money could buy (pre-existing illnesses included). It’s fair to say, he went out in style! Biskit was a very special, one of a kind dog. No dog will ever replace our precious “little man!” We love you so much and miss you, our Little Biskit!
Addendum: A few days after his passing, Sissy had a dream that he was happily playing with a new Shih Tzu puppy in our backyard. To her, it seemed real! It was tough to hear! Then exactly on his 2 week anniversary, I was organizing his personal papers and photos. Over 15 years I tried to contact Shannon, his breeder, to keep in touch and let her know how he was well cared for, but never located her. I was so darn proud of him! Out from his papers, her old business card fell on the floor, turned over, and there was her email written in pencil. I swear I never saw it before! I took a chance, emailed her, and YES it was her! She now has two female dogs that are both expecting, a Bichon/Shih Tzu mix, and a Shih Tzu. Info was exchanged and pictures of both dogs were received. I think this was Biskit’s divine intervention! He’s letting us know that our hearts may be broken, but we have his permission to open our hearts and love a new puppy! Biskit now has a new path to follow over the Rainbow Bridge! Sometimes life is amazing!
